In an effort to provide a more accurate local weather forecast and information, Lake Country Internet has deployed a network of weather stations around our customers. The service is unlimited, however, we realize some people use a whole lot more data than others, which can cause problems for others by slowing everything down. So in order to keep a fair and level playing field, we have developed this plan which has a very generous data cap to help control runaway usage, which ultimately affects everyone.
Speeds are up to and not guaranteed, however, our goal is to create a different kind of internet experience for our customers. One that is not overpriced or oversold, one that is generous with the data plans, and one where customers actually get the speeds they pay for or more. And the best part, back it all up with our LOCAL hometown customer service right here in Boydton, VA which our customers have enjoyed for 2 generations from our family.
We do require a minimum 6 month contract, and credit or debit card auto pay must remain on file for us to provide service to you uninterrupted. If a payment fails for any reason your service is subject to suspension and or cancellation automatically by our billing system.

Currently the service is only available in parts of Boydton, VA and Clarksville, VA however, we are in the process of expanding our service to other areas which will be announced when they launch.

Lake Country Satellite recommends that you start off with your playback settings on LOW and not Medium as described below until you know what your normal data usage will be. Personally, it really doesn’t look much different if you have a newer HD TV. The newer TV’s up-convert the video to a higher quality automatically, so don’t waste your data.

When you arrive at the settings page …
Roku devices have a secret menu to access the Bit Rate Override. Otherwise they will stream at the fastest speed they can get, thus eating away at your data unnecessarily. To access the hidden menu using your ROKU remote press the following sequence:
Press the HOME key 5 times
Press the REWIND key 3 times
Press the FAST FORWARD key 2 times
You should now have the ROKU Bit Rate Override screen with an X by automatic. Use the arrow keys and move down to 0.3 Mbps and then press OK. The screen will go back to normal. You really should not see much difference in the quality of the program, but you will see a difference in the amount of data that you were using.
***NOTE: One thing to point out, if your device looses power or is unplugged, you will need to follow this set up again. The device defaults to automatic each time power is removed. I always suggest a small UPS battery back up for electronic devices to help protect them from surges and brown outs.

If you have our 12 Mbps service or above and live in the continental U.S. (all states and the District of Columbia but not Hawaii and Alaska), you can get it.

Can I buy LCI Voice and use it over another Internet connection other than LCI’s?
What equipment do I need to use LCI Voice?
We’ll provide you with the Voice Adapter, which converts your home phone into a digital phone for use with LCI Voice.
You’ll need to provide your own home phone handset(s) to plug into the LCI Voice Adapter. You can also plug your Adapter into a cordless base station to enable phone service throughout your home.
What phone/handset do you recommend for use with LCI Voice?
While we don’t have a specific brand/model to recommend, we’ve found most wireless phone base stations work very well with LCI Voice.
Can I plug the LCI Voice Adapter directly into my home phone wall jack?
We recommend using a phone base station (which allows for multiple, wireless-connected handsets) that plugs directly into the Exede Voice Adapter. If you don’t have one, they are available at most retail and electronics stores and are typically very reasonably priced. However, for an additional fee, we can disconnect your homes outside wiring from the NID so that you can use our service on all your jacks.
Can I transfer my phone number to LCI Voice?
In most areas of the country, yes. To see if your phone number is available for transfer to LCI Voice, call us and we can check.
How long does it take to transfer my phone number?
5-10 business days.
Can I call 911 with this service?
Yes, although 911 service from a satellite may be limited in comparison to 911 service available through traditional landline telephone carriers.
Can I make international calls with Exede Voice?
Yes. To make international calls, dial 011 + country code + city code + phone number. Per minute toll calling rates apply.
Can I prevent my phone number from appearing in phone books or other directory listing services?
Yes. You choose your directory listing preference when you sign up for LCI Voice. You can change how your phone number appears by calling us.
I want to block someone from calling me. What options do I have?
We recommend adding your phone number to the National Do Not Call Registry to prevent telemarketing calls (www.donotcall.gov). If there is a specific phone number you’d like to have blocked from calling your Voice line, please call us.
What happens when the power goes out or my Internet connection goes down?
LCI Voice relies on your Internet connection to place and receive phone calls. When you lose connectivity, you lose the ability to make or receive phone calls.

Lake Country Satellite provides WiFi coverage for local events of any size. With our mobile office platform we can provide a fast and reliable internet connection virtually anywhere. Because our technology is satellite based, we can deliver where others can’t! So if your event is in the middle of a tobacco field here in Southern Virginia, we’ve gotcha covered!
Our mobile office is the first of it’s kind to be commissioned exclusively using technology from ViaSat and Exede. We are self powered using a 250 watt solar panel on the roof to power our equipment and charge the storage batteries. This allows us to stay up and running around the clock providing high speed internet and voice communications.
We have several long range WiFi systems we can rapidly deploy. On-board we have a 5G & 2G Ubiquiti system that provides fixed long range coverage to about a 100 yard perimeter around our mobile office. For larger events, we have a Rukus WiFi system with multiple repeaters that are installed around the venue.
These WiFi systems can be configured in several ways. The most popular is a secure connection for vendors to process credit card transactions on their terminals or smartphones. This works extremely well in areas of poor cell phone reception, or when the cell towers are just overwhelmed with users because of the event. This allows the vendors to continue to accept credit card transactions even though their cell signal is weak or non-existent. A separate guest WiFi network can be set up for the attendees keeping the vendors traffic secure.
WiFi has become a valuable tool that event promoters can use to bring a higher value and level of service to their venue. In more and more cases, WiFi is expected to be available for your vendors at your event.

Medium Venue using mobile communication trailer and one repeater, covers roughly 100 yard radius from center of trailer, plus hot spot coverage where repeater is deployed. $3500/day, up to 25 Mbps download speeds, up to 3 Mbps upload speeds.
Large Venue using mobile communications trailer and full deployment of repeaters, covers roughly 100 yard radius from center of trailer, out to as far as you need it. Starting at $5000/day, up to 25 Mbps download speeds, up to 3 Mbps upload speeds.
There may be an additional set up charge starting at $1200 depending on your location and site specific needs.
Lake Country Satellite leads the way in the satellite internet industry once again. In December 2015 we will launch a first of it’s kind concept of a mobile office for our customers. With this platform we will take high speed internet to the communities that need it most, giving them a live demo, proving that our technology works and is available where they live. Our goal is to spend a few days up to a week in each community providing a WiFi Hot Spot for them to try out our service. We will have someone available in our mobile office during business hours, and by phone anytime.
We have teamed up with the Satellite Broadcasting Association (SBCA) and the Information Technology Disaster Resource Center (ITDRC) and are members of the Satellite CARES team. CARES stands for Community Aid Relief Efforts. In addition to being a mobile platform for us to show how well our service works anywhere, anytime, Lake Country Satellite will be a leader in our community in the event of a natural disaster or emergency. Because our unit is self contained and not dependent on any cable, landline, cell tower, or even power connection, we can provide emergency communications within minutes of arrival at any location here in the Lake Country Region.
